Everything we do is driven by our purpose to make a difference by helping people embrace Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

And every one of our people has an important part role to play. If you want to make a difference by helping shape a healthier, better-protected Australia, read on.

The opportunity:

To proactively manage a portfolio of income protection claims in accordance with policy terms and conditions and, where appropriate, the Insurance Contracts Act and other relevant legislation, ensuring that the client is given a fair assessment without compromising AIA Australia's reputation and brand in any way.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Provide support to the team through the management of a high volume of low-risk income protection claims (reviewed and assigned by the Team Leader prior to allocation), processing payments and providing regular status updates to members
  • Ensure that members are paid the appropriate rate and within set timeframes
  • Ensure all claims are reviewed and strategy signed off by a Senior Assessor every 3 months
  • Engage with appropriate parties such as Senior Assessors or rehabilitation to ensure sustainable return to work outcomes are facilitated and expected recovery times are understood
  • Ensure Data Integrity is maintained in the claims system and that agreed individual processing Turn Around Times (TAT) are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure that the quality, including presentation, accuracy and detail of ongoing claims assessment meets or exceeds the business unit minimum performance standards.
  • Previous administration or claims assessing experience in a general or life insurance environment
  • Knowledge of Business Rules, claims theory and practice, and awareness of claims practices and developments in the marketplace is preferred, along with product knowledge, including terms and conditions.
  • Working knowledge of the Insurance Contracts Act and other relevant legislation, FOS and SCT preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to consistently build and maintain good, positive relationships with members, clients and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to understand the importance of and then provide an excellent customer/client experience.
  • Ability to listen with understanding and empathy, and identify useful information
  • Ability to liaise with a broad range of people internally and externally whether in person, by phone or in writing, including obtaining and then sharing complex or technical information in an accessible manner.
  • Ability to identify key issues and proactively find solutions.
  • Ability to manage self in order to deliver to agreed outcomes and timelines.
  • Ability to identify and use available data and resources to make appropriate decisions or recommendations.
