_Concord Repatriation General Hospital_


We are looking for a Visiting Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine The appointee to this position will provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SLHD facility under their care.

This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the SLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

The Emergency Department at Concord Repatriation General Hospital (CRGH) has undergone significant changes due to COVID-19.

Additional Medical Specialists are required to respond to workload requirements and provide on-going support to the Unit during the pandemic period.

The successful applicant will be part of a relief pool of Visiting Medical Officers providing specialist care to patients in the Emergency Department.

The Visiting Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine will provide clinical care to patients who present to the Concord Hospital Emergency Department.

In addition to carrying a patient load, the Visiting Medical Officer will be expected to supervise junior medical staff, review clinical cases seen by juniors or trainees, and provide senior decision making to expedite clinical care and patient flow.

They will be expected to work collaboratively with nursing managers in managing the Emergency Department floor to optimise patient flow and maintain a safe working environment.

They must communicate with admitting teams, medical retrieval teams and tertiary referral centres for escalation of patient care when appropriate.

The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.


The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for specialist registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


To be employed by NSW Health, you are required to provide evidence of current immunity status that complies with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy.
