Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Casual Optical Dispenser to join Office of the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Health, Academic Division.


The QUT Health Clinics Optical Dispenser provides high quality dispensing operations, requiring excellent patient care, interpersonal skills and customer service while supporting student optometrists.

This casual position works within the Optometry Clinic Dispensing team and reports to the Clinic Coordinator - Optometry.

About the area
The QUT Health Clinics (QHC) provides professional student-led patient care to the community. Real world experienced clinicians train students in quality healthcare, using advanced technology and current research evidence.

The QHC Optometry, Podiatry, Psychology and Counselling, Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Physiology and Eating Disorders clinics provide interdisciplinary clinical care including extensive outreach services, Indigenous healthcare, aged care services, school screenings, and other community initiatives and collaborative services with external partnerships.


What you need to succeed

  • Relevant qualifications in optical dispensing equivalent to a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing, and/or equivalent relevant experience or combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Knowledge of current optical theory and practices (comprehensive product knowledge regarding frames, lenses, contact lens, low vision aids etc.)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment and liaise with a diverse client group, including patients, students and staff.
  • High level of attention to detail in a clinical setting, including the ability to accurately interpret the advice/prescription provided by an Optometrist.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and manage administrative dispensing requirements including suppliers, correspondence, and accounts.
