About the Role (Responsibilities):

In the context of consulting that means you will be:


  • Helping a client find and create new value for their customers, their business and our society through technology
  • Helping a client understand what a modern business means in their context and how to manage the transition to it
  • Facilitating their future design, orchestrating how Cognizant and its partners deliver that outcome and helping the client get value from it
A Digital Business Consultant with a focus on a sector is a critical role within Cognizant Consulting.

You will lead the shaping and delivery of major projects for clients in Retail, Consumer Products and Services like Hospitality and Travel.

You will work with our clients directly, Cognizant's client account leaders and consulting's specialists to provide the industry and client business perspective on the challenge that our client needs solving.


As your role progresses you are likely to be asked to lead one of our major accounts for consulting, prioritizing consulting activities in that account and managing its development and profitability.


About you (skills / experience).
The life of a digital consultant involves exciting, fast-paced work, dealing with a variety of stakeholders, clients and consultants. You need to be someone that can deal with ambiguity, thrive on change, and manage your own time effectively. We want someone that genuinely focuses on client outcomes, with a high degree of integrity.

At Cognizant we value consultants that have a high IQ, enjoy problem solving, a willingness to serve, and have little ego.

You will need to be confident presenting to both business and technology stakeholders, being part of cross functional geographically dispersed teams, and have strong negotiating for outcomes skills.

Above all, you should have a positive attitude, and enjoy working with consultants from a diverse range of backgrounds, on a variety of fast paced engagements.


Your past experience must include:


  • A minimum of 10 years' experience as a business or technology specialist and advisor in the retail, consumer goods or supply chain fulfilment industry including significant time in an external consulting firm
  • Use of a range of core and digital consulting techniques including hypothesisbased problem solving, executive report structuring, critical thinking, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, human centered design, product design, transformation program design.
  • Knowledge of technologies that manage retail, consumer goods and fulfilment.
  • A solid understanding of the core value drivers of businesses in retail, consumer goods and fulfilment
  • A track record of being part of teams who have delivered new value to your organization or your clients through digital transformation and where you have learned and improved how you deliver next time round.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills, including preparing succinct documents, prototypes or artefacts to aid communication and managerial decisions.

We would also value experience in:

  • Optimizing marketing, sales or customer experience at different stages of a digital commerce operation
  • Product management

The following qualifications would be considered favorably:

  • Master of Business Administration
  • Digital product management certifications
  • Process improvement and project delivery certifications: e.g. Lean Six Sigma, PRINCE
  • Foundational or specialist certifications in cloud platforms such as Salesforce (CRM, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud), Adobe Experience Cloud or retail or supply chain platforms
