Role Overview:


In this role the Exports Specialist will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Global Trade (GT) program across multiple sites within the Collins Aerospace, Australian organization.

This position will be based at the Lane Cove West facility in NSW, Australia.

The role is to plan and coordinate export/import activities for the business, including the flow of traffic to/from international destinations, related customer service, and support to brokerage and customs transactions.

Maintain compliance with Australian and international regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of export/import products and services.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Analyzes and reviews applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure legal compliance
  • Manages internal export and import controls to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies in the conduct of international marketing, sales, supply chain and other business activities.
  • Discusses emerging compliance issues with management or employees to identify the potential impact of future laws and regulations on the organisation
  • Develops and manages comprehensive internal export and import controls to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies in the conduct of international marketing, sales, supply chain and other business activities.
  • Establishes business processes for submitting to and obtaining from the US government and Australian Government all necessary export and import licenses, permits, certifications and technology release determinations.
  • Maintains applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Includes (nonengineering) technical experts who support law department in investigating and resolving compliance problems, questions or complaints.
  • Establishes and maintains training and audit / assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls
  • Ensuring that all projects and business support functions strictly comply with the requirements of the Australian, U.S. (ITAR, EAR), European and all other applicable export control rules and regulations
  • Keeping the businesses informed regarding export control and global trade developments and updates to corporate policies and procedures
  • Creating and maintaining procedures and instructions to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the area of trade compliance
  • Ensuring that project teams fully understand their access, reexport and transfer obligations
  • Assisting with internal compliance reviews and audits; and conducting spot checks on processes and trade compliance data integrity
  • Conducting adhoc training to relevant staff on export control and global trade matters
  • Reporting noncompliance, corrective actions and impact to Global Trade leadership
  • Providing expert advice on all things related to export controls, ITAR, Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and Australian Defence Export Control (DEC)
  • Reviewing and providing input into contracts and other documents
  • Liaise with management, staff, customers, contractors and other organisations.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports as directed in support of Global Trade needs
  • Analysis of export control documents including US ITAS and Australian DEC
  • Define and manage the services that will be required to ensure proper ITAR/Exports/DEC support to the business needs
  • Coordinate the management of ITAR/Exports/DEC releases to customer contacts

Basic Qualifications:


  • A current Australian NV1 security clearance at the requisite level or ability to obtain one. Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Experience in interpretation and implementation of US and Australian government policy
  • Experience within the US and Australian Defence industry
  • Experience with export controls, ITAR and DEC
  • Strong communication skills
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Process orientated with good attention to detail
  • Experience within the Defence industry
