Scope of Task:


Reinforcement of the Cyber Security and Assurance function is essential in ensuring that Army can identify and manage cyber risk and ensure that the warfighting capabilities that rely on ICT are managed in appropriately and adhere to Army's Cyber security governance and compliance policies.


Army requires one ongoing Level 3 IT Security Officer contracted resource to work within the Army formation coordinating with unit IT Security Managers and Officers on the day-to-day management of vulnerability and patch notification distribution and monitoring for Army stakeholders, management of non-compliance and management of cyber security incidents and RFIs.


The IT Security Officer will be working at Holsworthy in Sydney and will be required to be physically located in Sydney.

The IT Security Officer will be required to operate in a flexible and agile way in support of a dynamic work area.

Specific tasks for the Level 3 IT Security Officer contractor will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Generate, sustain, and maintain relevant system CS&WO documents and artefacts.
  • Support vulnerability and patch management of relevant systems and associated reporting.
  • Support ICT incident response, collate statistics and analyse trends.
  • Support the remediation of CS&WO deficiencies in relevant systems through the submission of RODUMS and other defect reports.
  • Conduct audits as required.
  • Provide reporting as per the governance reporting requirements, and as required.
  • Maintain a database of stakeholder engagement and compliance.
  • Alert noncompliance to the relevant authorities; and
  • Other tasks as specified.

The resource will also be required to:

  • Engage with relevant stakeholders, identifying any gaps, risks, or issues and report appropriately.
  • Be prepared to provide specialist advice to Working groups and senior committees.
  • Successfully collaborate with ADF, APS and Defence contractors.
  • Collaborate with the ICT Security Office, and other IT Security Managers and IT Security Officers within Army units.
  • Selfmanage their hours to ensure contractual obligations are being met and to advise of contractual risks.
  • Not work out of scope of contract.
