APRA is seeking a highly skilled Test Lead to manage, design, implement, and execute automated test cases to identify data quality defects and to ensure data, ETL and development meets our data quality standards.


The Team


This role is part of the Chief Data Office function and embedded within the Business & External Data Reporting team.

Some initiatives will see you working in blended teams, oriented around data products or delivery streams.


Key accountabilities


This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate representation of regulated entities data and its use for internal and external reporting.

Analysing existing testing processes to seek opportunities to simplify, automate and gain efficiencies in testing solutions.

  • Defining target testing outcomes in the initiation phase, via a Test Approach document, as a blueprint of testing activities and outcomes for the execution phase
  • Preparing and running workshops with stakeholders to elicit and understanding testing requirements and objectives
  • Working with and mentoring test analysts to ensure testing is executed as per plan and performing handson testing when required
  • Preparing the test schedule and resourcing plan for each delivery and provide regular execution status updates
  • Inspecting and reporting on testing activities and outcomes aimed at senior leadership and governance committees
  • Reporting on traceability of test cases through to requirements and delivered outcomes
  • As part of an agile squad contribute to delivering test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases
  • Ability to generate and provision data files and data sets to consuming parties and systems for the purposes of testing in integration and data migration tests
  • Execute test cases manually or by using automated testing tools
  • Identify, document, and prioritise defects, working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution
  • Automate testing processes in a repeatable and efficient manner where possible
  • Challenging the status quo and seeking opportunities to simplify testing processes.

About you

  • Experience in analysing and presenting data using standard tools (Excel, SQL Server, SSIS, PowerBI, data warehouse architecture)
  • Prior experience with testing large volumes of data running into hundreds of millions of rows
  • Proficiency in Functional and Non-Functional Testing, with ability to lead the process from start to finish
  • Prior experience in automating testing, use of automation tools and use of test management tools
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and communication skills
  • Experience in working as a Test Manager interacting with both technical and business teams with delivery success
  • Strong test planning and execution skills including the production of test strategy, test approach and test plans
  • Strong familiarity with business and IT project lifecycles.
