About the opportunity


The Essential Services Officer provides responsive and reliable support to the Essential Services Coordinator and the wider Property Team in relation to a range of project administration, operational requirements, workshops and meetings.

The primary focus of this role is to assist the Library's Essential Services Coordinator with all compliance requirements within the mechanical services, fire services and lift services disciplines, related to State Library Victoria's Melbourne and Ballarat sites.

The Essential Services Officer is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:

  • Successful compliance of Essential Safety Measures
  • Scheduling of essential services maintenance
  • Production of periodic essential services asset lifecycle reports
  • Providing appropriate and timely responses to requests for information and delivery of tasks
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders

About You


A professional, focused on excellence, quality, and customer service, you will be passionate about maintaining a safe, accessible and secure facility for the public and staff within an iconic heritage site.

You will possess practical, technical expertise as well as stakeholder skills and interest in interacting with a wide range of people in the community.

In addition, you will come to us with the following experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in life systems management, i.e. mechanical services, fire services, preferably within a multi-building, heritage environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, e.g. mechanical engineering, Facilities Management (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in asset lifecycle planning and reporting is desirable
