The Opportunity

Jetstar's Airport Services team play a pivotal role in supporting the operational excellence of our passionate, frontline airport team.

As part of the investment in our future, we are pleased to now be seeking newly created opportunities in the role of Operations Manager.


In this role, you will establish the operating environment, rhythm and tempo needed to execute high turn performance across all internal and external stakeholders.

Leading a team of Turnaround Managers, you will ensure all operations disruptions are considered and mitigated through appropriate deployment and engagement of our team.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing International and Domestic Airport Operations to drive enhanced operational efficiency and effectiveness; balancing the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Planning, developing and implementing projects related to aircraft operations to deliver significant operational and strategic improvement initiatives
  • Identifying and implementing decisions regarding operational improvements and risk management
  • Managing the flow of all critical information within the Airport to ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed to make the best possible decisions
  • Consistency in achieving KPI's relating to safety, ontime performance, customer satisfaction and financial deliverables
  • Oversight of Suppliers operations delivery to ensure it is in line with the company's brand values, in addition to acting as a secondary escalation point where required for problem resolution and disrupt management
  • Building strong, professional relationships with our Internal and External stakeholders ensuring we delivery a Safe, compliant, on time operation.
  • Continuously developing and the ongoing performance management of all relevant team members
  • Fostering an enhanced awareness with all team members for OH&S, aviation safety and security policies


This role will negotiate and influence operational stakeholder groups, whilst coaching and developing operational teams to achieve business outcomes and link decision-making to business objectives.

Key areas of focus include Supplier management, Turnaround Performance, Compliance, delay handling and customer service failure recovery planning.

You will also need to manage the flow of critical and relevant information, ensuring that it is communicated both internally and externally in an effective and timely manner.


Ideally we are seeking:

  • Strong experience leading an operational team and delivering outcomes within an Airport operation
  • Exposure to frontline team management
  • Developed customer, commercial, and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and plan commercial programs of work
  • Experience in implementing and driving operational efficiencies
  • Strong consultation skills and able to interact with all levels of an organisation
  • Demonstrated experience managing team performance
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an Airport Operations / Operations Management environment
  • Tertiary qualified with a bachelor's degree in a relatable discipline (preferred)
