The Library Services Centre provides innovative, high quality, customer-focused library services including digital and information literacies and use of learning technologies, research skills, information resources, scholarly and cultural collections, and learning facilities that contribute to and enhance the University's learning, teaching, and research goals.

The Library delivers a wide range of online resources and services to all campus and study locations and to clients both on and off-campus.

The Library is also responsible for the overall management and control of the University's records.

ECU Library has a librarian position available working in the Scholarly Communication and Collections Team.


The Scholarly Communication Librarian will deliver research support services and training to researchers and higher degree by research students in support of ECU's practices in research data management, data sharing strategies, scholarly publishing, bibliometrics and research skills development.


Applicants will be expected to have:

Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation.

Eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association is desirable:


Experience in a scholarly communication or research environment providing support to researchers and students regarding scholarly communication practices, including open access publishing, copyright issues, tools utilized in the research lifecycle and current academic publishing trends.


Experience in research data management planning, management of research data or datasets and data sharing practices to enhance research reproducibility.


Experience in developing and delivering engaging and compelling presentations and support materials that are clear, understandable and targeted, to educate both small and large audiences.

The ability to work flexibly in a constantly changing environment to develop creative and innovative solutions.

Demonstrated high level customer service skills with the ability to prioritise numerous competing tasks and ensure targeted quality outcomes.


Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop positive working relationships and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Benefits & Remuneration
This ongoing position attracts remuneration of $85,551 to $92,301 pa (HEW6) plus up to 17% University superannuation contribution.
