Position Information:

Oyster Bay Public School is a nurturing and inclusive environment across a split site located in southern Sydney.

Enrolments have remained steady in recent years and there are currently?420 students (10 Aboriginal students and 8% EALD) working in 19 classes.?The school has a strong academic focus and an emphasis upon the delivery of high-quality differentiated?teaching and learning programs.

The school has a vibrant blend of experienced and early career teachers who collaborate to provide a dynamic, safe, and caring learning environment in which each student feels valued and challenged to achieve individual excellence, within a balanced curriculum framework.

A range of well-developed performing arts and sporting opportunities are on offer to add to the development of individual success.

The school enjoys strong partnerships with?local school and is?also?well supported by an active?and positive partnership with parents and the wider community.

The school holds an annual Art and Craft festival each year which has strengthened the positive partnership between the school and the community.

Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary:

  • Proven ability to harness and foster leadership capacity and development, building effective teams and enriching the school's existing high expectations culture.
  • Demonstrated high level leadership in driving effective student wellbeing initiatives that strengthen the engagement of all students including students with disability, and additional needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and lead whole school initiatives, and monitor, measure and evaluate the implementation of the school's strategic directions.
  • An open, inclusive & inspiring leader with high emotional intelligence to genuinely engage and build strong, authentic connections with our school community to deliver and maintain school excellence.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
