The specific accountabilities of the positon are to:

  • Lead the delivery of parliamentary education and training programs and educational resources for students and the community which contribute to raising awareness and participation in Queensland's system of democracy;
  • Lead the parliamentary education and training programs for public sector officers, Members of Parliament and Members' staff to enhance their understanding and knowledge of the role of the Parliament and the Executive in the process of public administration;
  • Lead the Education and Liaison team's participation in Youth Parliament programs;

Duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Manage the staff and resources of the Education and Liaison team within Chamber, Education and Communication Services to achieve specific outcomes;
  • Provide sound policy advice to the Manager, Chamber, Education and Communication Services on parliamentary education and training matters;
  • Liaise on matters relating to parliamentary education and training issues with a variety of groups including Ministers, Members of Parliament, educators, senior government officials, and community organisations;
  • Facilitate relationships leading to more effective communication and engagement between the Parliament, its Committees and Members, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
  • Undertake or coordinate projects of a substantial nature, including project leadership and management activities;
  • Participate in, or lead, Parliamentary Education & Liaison team activities as directed.
