About the Client
Operating since early 2014, our client has a strong focus on delivering traffic infrastructure and electrical reticulation projects throughout Queensland looking after both metropolitan and regional areas.
They are currently seeking an experienced Fibre Optic Splicer for a night shift position that has commenced in Caboolture for the Bruce Highway Smart Motorways upgrade.
You will initially be working on the Smart Motorway Project but then will work across any of the clients' projects from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast so you must be flexible on working locations.
You must be willing to work away when required and willing to work extended periods of night shift if required.
What you will be doingYou will be required to work predominantly a Sunday to Thursday night shift roster commencing at 7pm working an average of 10 hour nights.
You will be responsible for Optical Fibre installation, splicing and termination and you will have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in carrying out fibre optic jointing and cabling works on live carrier networks, including being able to use a cleaver and splicer to fusion splice cores inside fobots and underground joints.
You will ideally have prior Energex or TMR experience and will be available to commit to ongoing work.What you will need
ACMA Open Cabler Registration
Ability to interpret fibre splicing drawings, technical specifications and achieve industry accepted standards in the preparation and presentation of assigned work
Understand network access processes and techniques to access live plant to splice and configure network connections for customer and fault finding tasks
Knowledge and Understanding of Star and Ring Architecture and the physical components associated with External Plant Access Network
Must be competent in using OTDR, OLTS and VFL for fault finding, testing and commissioning on fibre network, and have the ability to complete artefacts and reporting
Sound oral, written communication and numeracy skills
Sound computer literacy skills
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Ability to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position
