The hourly rate is up to $70 plus super per hour- 12 Month Contract (could go longer)

Engineering EHS Lead
This role will be responsible for the ongoing development, execution of and monitoring of Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS) engineering programs to ensure business compliance to EHS management systems and relevant legislation.
- Primary accountability for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the EHS systems and processes within the Parkville Engineering Department.
- Actively support and foster an EHS focused culture within the Parkville Engineering Department including compliance with the applicable EHS processes and systems.
- Work with the EHS Department on ongoing development and improvement of the EHS systems and coordinate the successful implementation.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Engineering Quality and Systems Manager.
Responsibilities:
Ensure procedures and operations comply with the Health Safety and Environmental standards of the company and the relevant State and Federal EHS legislation:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in EHS systems management within the Engineering Department.
- Be a first point of EHS contact for the Engineering Department. Facilitate and participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are enacted and closed with the support and advice from EHS Department.
- Actively support the Engineering Safety Committee and represent Engineering in other safety related committees
- Lead deployment of allocated EHS programs for engineering activities including capital projects and incorporating safety aspects into Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks.
- Facilitating and/or participating in EHS projects, initiatives and risk assessments, audits as required.
- Participate and, as required, lead tool box meetings, EHS inspections, walkthroughs and audits.
- Manage the schedule for the engineering workplace inspections and walkthrough activities.
- Actively supporting the EHS team for internal and external EHS audits in respect to the Engineering Department. Monitoring and reporting to EHS Department on implementation of audit actions.
- In conjunction with Engineering shutdown planning activities, review all planned shutdown activities for appropriate EHS considerations and implement changes where required. This

- Coordinate the management of the Permit System and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) Systems.
- Coordinate and oversee the management and updating of the regulatory registers maintained by the Engineering Department (pressure vessels, cooling towers, etc.) and ensure compliance with
- Produce monthly reports on engineering EHS activities for engineering management and
- Partner with the EHS Department members to coordinate and execute EHS projects as required to meet the business needs.
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary educational institution in engineering disciplines.
- Preferably at least 35 years professional experience in related function with practical experience of working with EHS systems.
- Working in a complex manufacturing environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
