About the role


We currently have opportunities available for experienced and capable mechanical field service technicians to join our NSW-based underground coal field service department.

This role is responsible for supporting our expanding customer base of Caterpillar Longwall Equipment. This exciting opportunity will also provide exposure to the release of the next generation of Caterpillar longwall technology.

This role will see you support our NSW customer base in Narrabri, Tahmoor, and Appin. Travel will be required on an as-needed basis.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide maximum satisfaction to our customers by ensuring all inspections, maintenance, commissioning, and repairs are carried out to the highest possible standard.
  • Monitor and review how Caterpillar equipment is being used and give all stakeholders the feedback they need to evaluate and improve performance.
  • Deliver onsite technical assistance to provide appropriate solutions to customer issues.
  • Training and mentoring of site personnel
  • Maintain a high safety standard.
  • Assist with audits, lifecycle, downtime, and performance analysis and reporting for preventative maintenance.

Skills and Experience

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate—Australian Trade Recognized
  • 6 months underground experience is required.
- demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
- excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal).

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- due to the nature of the role, the ability to travel on short notice

  • Willingness and ability to be on call or work overtime as required
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills and fault finding/root cause analysis skills
  • Be able to read and interpret circuit diagrams and maintenance manuals.
  • Have a strong focus on safety for yourself and other team members.
  • Be flexible, reliable, and show initiative.

Desirable

  • Sound knowledge of fluid power principles and calculations with the ability to interrupt hydraulic schematics
  • Experience with troubleshooting hydraulic and mechanical breakdowns
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar longwall equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the lifecycle of a longwall
- experience in conducting or participating in risk assessments
