UExcel Medical Recruitment are currently seeking Registrars and appropriately qualified Senior Registrars for a major Perth Hospital.

Your role is to provide a high quality patient centred care to patients under the supervision of the Head of Department or duty consultant in the Emergency Medicine Department.

The successful applicants will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to review the medical needs of patients and provide teaching and support, as appropriate to Doctors in Training (DiT's), Nursing, Allied Health and other multidisciplinary team members across the service and will be expected to share after-hours, evening and night shift with their peers on a pro-rata basis.

You will have or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

In addition you will be able to demonstrate recent, relevant clinical and procedural experience, skills and abilities in an equivalent emergency medicine hospital setting, have effective communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to interact with patients, families and personnel at all levels as well as the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment or independently without supervision.


We have a number of posts which include:

Emergency Medicine / Anaesthetic rotation

These positions consist of full time, ACEM accredited appointments in both Emergency Medicine and Anaesthetics at 6 months in each.


Emergency Medicine / Medical Education

There is also has an opportunity within the department for an education role which would suit speciality trainees in the latter part of their training with a keen interest in education and teaching.


Area Profile:

The healthcare group is part of the South Metropolitan Health Service, one of the fastest growing health services in Western Australia and comprises two hospital campuses, in addition to community and mental health services.

The flagship hospital is focused on providing high quality general medical, surgical and mental health services as well as outpatient care.

TheED treats 54,000+ patients per year with a varied and interesting case-mix, which includes 30% paediatric presentations and is supported by paediatric, surgical, medical, anaesthetic, obstetrics and gynaecology and ICU services and has close links to the nearby tertiary hospital.

A separate paediatric area in the ED opened in May 2014.

The ED is accredited for 12 months of advanced training with the Australian College for Emergency Medicine (including Paediatric Log-book), and has a highly-regarded Registrar teaching program with 2 hours per week protected teaching time and a first part exam and fellowship exam preparation program with a track record of success.

In addition, registrars participate in monthly simulation training and in multidisciplinary simulation training days with ED nurses. There is also an option of non-clinical time and duties for advanced ED trainees.

Emergency Consultants are on duty from 0800 hours to 2400 hours (and on-call overnight) to provide supervision and bedside teaching.
