About this role
The Policy Officer, System Management Branch (SMB), will provide support to the Director of Patient Safety First.

This role coordinates activities and programs in relation to supporting the achievement of the NSW Health performance Framework objectives through the Patient Safety First Unit, System Management Branch.

The Patient Safety First Unit's focus is to strengthen safety and quality of care in NSW.

Patient Safety First works with the districts/networks and Directors of Clinical Governance in partnership with the Clinical Excellence Commission, eHealth, Agency for Clinical Innovation, and other Ministry of Health branches to support the NSW Health Future Health:
Strategic Framework.


Crown Clerk 7/8, salary from $101,947 - $112,849 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading.

What you'll be doing

  • Undertake components of performance management and monitoring activities, particularly related to critical issues management.
  • Assist in the preparation of highquality written advice in the form of reports, briefs, policy, discussion papers or circulars to inform or respond to requests,
  • Liaise with key staff in the Ministry, public health organisations and stakeholder representatives to communicate NSW Health's position, objectives, and priorities.
  • Participate in project management activities to assist with improving health system performance.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Patient Safety First as required.

About You

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of health services in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work in a small dynamic team environment
