Northrop Sustainability Section
We acknowledge that we live, work and play in buildings, spending more than 80% of our time indoors. The Sustainability Section is going through a growth phase, with a strong desire to service projects across sustainable communities, green building design, existing building performance and health & wellbeing. The team is also spearheading to transform engineering consulting to a default base of carbon neutral and climate resilient design.

We are a close knit, high energy team across Melbourne and Sydney who works autonomously on projects, yet collaboratively on strategy. You will have the opportunity to work in an environment like none you've seen before. We are part of a multi-disciplinary consulting organisation which gives us access to projects most sustainability consultants can only aspire to. Ours is a fast-paced culture where you will be responsible for delivering multiple projects concurrently.

The Role
As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will develop and deliver modern, customised and commercially viable solutions for our clients. You will also contribute to the overall expertise of the team ensuring that we have access to the latest sustainability solutions. In this key role, within a team that will grow significantly over the next 12 months, you will work on a wide range of challenging projects with a variety of clients.

Key Accountabilities
You will be responsible for:

• Working closely with project teams and clients to develop and deliver holistic sustainability strategies across the design, construction and operation of high-profile developments.
• Working closely with the Green Building Council of Australia to deliver a portfolio of Green Star ratings, including the Communities, Buildings, Design As-Built tools.
• Leading and managing project delivery for a broad range of building, masterplanning and advisory projects
• Monitoring project health, costings, and performance, managing teams, ensuring key dates are met and projects remain within budget.
• Coordinating project teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers in relation to green rating assessment tools including (but not limited to) data compilation, calculation, verification, and green rating tool submission.
• Embedding Living Building Challenge (LBC) Principles and regenerative design into our projects.
• Embedding passive design principles through a sitewide passive design approach with a unique focus on passive heating and cooling techniques and optimal indoor environmental quality, health and wellbeing.
• Undertaking and reviewing building physics modelling and analysis
• Liaising directly with clients and running projects to meet client's needs and exceed their expectations.
• Undertaking continuous professional education. We provide endless training opportunities. We expect you to use this training not only to enhance your own career, but also to deliver client solutions and establish the Section as the experts in sustainablebuilding design and the 'go to' sustainability practice in Australia.
• Nurturing existing clients and building new client relationships
• Representing Northrop in internal and external client engagements and industry events, growing our strong local and national sustainability Section.
• Preparing bids and generating bid relationships
• Acting as a mentor to junior consultants providing technical support and guidance on project management and delivery.

You are invited to apply for this role if you meet the following criteria:

• It is essential that you have demonstrated experience as a Senior Sustainability Consultant in the built environment consulting field, including project management, building sustainability design and advisory and carbon assessment and bid preparation.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sustainability or Engineering.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget, to a high quality
• Knowledge of local standards and building codes are essential.
• Analysis and interpretation skills in solar radiation, energy modelling, daylight, glare, thermal comfort, and whole of life carbon assessment.
• Certified accredited professional of sustainability rating system (e.g. Green Star, Living Building Challenge, Passivhaus). Accreditation and experience with Green Star is essential.
• Experience with NABERS, Section J, BASIX, and NatHERS and WELL are desirable.
• Experience in building physics modelling such as Energy, Daylight, Glare & CFD are essential.
• Experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using E-tool or equivalent software is desirable.
• Knowledge and experience understanding project and client drivers and how to develop and communicate practical solutions beyond business as usual
