VIC Local Council in the search for a highly capable individual to join as a
Project Officer (Arts Precinct Fund) located in
Dandenong, VIC.

About the role:


  • Ensure the successful coordination and delivery of the multiple projects that make up the Arts Precinct Design program funded by Creative Victoria's Creative Infrastructure Program, within the specified timeframe (6 8 months). This will be include (with support) effectively managing the scope of projects, contract requirements, contractors, budget and funding, quality controls, targets and timelines, resourcing, reporting, community input and feedback, issues resolution and achievement of high quality outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support and work with the Coordinators of Arts and Cultural Development, Coordinator Building Projects and Coordinator Placemaking and Revitalisation to deliver the variety of projects that make up the Arts Precinct Design program. Including working in collaboration with other key internal stakeholders.
  • Refine and effectively project manage creative and innovative projects and programs in line with the approved overarching program within budget and timeframe, including maintaining up to date project management documentation using Council's project management methodology and templates.
  • Source and manage contractors to assist in delivering the projects and programs across the areas of arts / creative practice, building/construction, community engagement / codesign and placemaking.
  • Participate in cross Council working groups and other forums and, where required, lead internal and external working groups to facilitate the development and delivery of the Arts Precinct Design program.
  • Ensure quotations and contract specifications are in accordance with corporate standards.
  • Ensure compliance and delegations of authority are strictly met, including tendering.
  • Monthly reporting on project status, financials and performance to Project Control Group and others as required.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Relevant Degree qualification in Business Management or Diploma of Project Management or related field, along with some relevant experience. If lesser formal qualifications, then substantial experience or knowledge
  • Significant relevant experience, knowledge and skills in project management include the delivery of projects/initiatives in relevant areas which may include Arts Management / Urban Design or Architecture / Community, Cultural or Economic Development / Events Management / Community, Social Planning or Social Sciences/ Placemaking.
