People and Executive Services


The Employee Safety, Wellbeing and Inclusion Division sits within the People and Executive Services group, which supports the delivery of great education by providing specialist services.


The key functions of PES are:

  • to provide strategic legal advice to Ministers, Secretary, executives, managers and senior regional and school personnel
- to provide executive and ministerial support services across the Department including FOI, privacy, knowledge and records management
- to strengthen the Department's communication with stakeholders and the community through
- strategic communication activities
- to develop, implement and manage human resources policy and practice, providing HR services and timely advice on emerging issues
- to provide advice and support to the Department on employee health, safety and wellbeing matters
- to provide fraud and corruption control including oversight of key integrity principles and corruption risk management
- to develop and support Department staff to ensure a culture of accountability and high integrity
- to provide central oversight of a number of operational policy, compliance and communications activities that impact government schools.


The Employee Safety, Wellbeing and Inclusion Division (ESWI Division) vision is to create safe, healthy, respectful and inclusive working environments for Department employees to thrive and succeed.


The ESWI Division performs it functions through six teams that span from prevention, through to response and recovery, along with strategy, advice and support, and diversity and inclusion.

These teams adopt a holistic approach for supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce across schools, central and regional offices.

This includes Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workers' Compensation policy advice and support, for both physical and mental health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion initiatives.


The objectives of the Division are to:

  • promote positive wellbeing in working environments
- prevent against known and expected risks to health, safety and wellbeing
- respond swiftly and effectively to manage potential issues as they emerge and prevent injuries
- support employees to recover from injury and illness, and return to work
- promote respectful and inclusive workplaces that upholds equal opportunity and prevents discrimination, bullying, harassment and sexual harassment
- promotes human rights and workforce diversity and inclusion.


This role will lead the design and implementation of a new initiative to reduce principals' administrative burden for OHS and emergency management planning.

The Pre and Post Audit Support program will provide one-on-one pre and post audit support in OHS compliance to all schools who require it.


Reporting to the Executive Director, ESWI Division, the purpose of the role will be to lead the design and establishment of the program and support change management for the program across the ESWI Division.

It wil be critical that the director ensures the program is established in a way that ensures that the primary objective:
reducing administrative burden for schools in the management of OHS and emergency management. Consultation and integration across ESWID is central to the program design and implementation approach.
