Research Assistant - Lucet Lab


Job Description:


An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Assistant to join the Lucet laboratory within the Chemical Biology Division at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

Our team is focused on providing high-resolution insights into kinase

About the Position


The successful applicant will be required to work closely with members of the Lucet laboratory within the Chemical Biology Division and collaborate with the WEHI Centre for Dynamic Imaging.

Selection Criteria


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • A BSc/BBiomedSc with Honours or Masters in an appropriate area of study, or relevant work experience
  • Experience in tissue culture, including establishing human primary cell lines, lentiviral work and generating modified cell line for ectopic expression
  • Practical experience in generating and maintaining insect cell and mammalian cell cultures for protein expression and purification
  • Proficiency in molecular biology and construct design
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in light microscopy and related imaging methods
  • Experience in protein expression and purification
  • Experience in assay development
  • Experience in laboratory management and student supervision

Personal Qualities:

  • Highly motivated, reliable and approachable
  • Ability to work both autonomously and cooperatively within a team environment
  • Ability to manage time efficiently with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to take organisational responsibilities within the lab and train students
Terms of Appointment


This full-time position is available for 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.

Salary is Research Support Employee Level $73,621 - $92,435) dependent on experience. Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
