ABOUT THE ROLE:


This role will see you leading our passionate team of staff who provide clinical care, screening and assessment for high risk mothers and babies.


  • Employment is with Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg.
  • Fixed term full time position (12 months).
  • Provide effective leadership and strategic direction within the unit.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:


  • The Foetal Monitoring Unit operates Monday to Saturday and offers a range of foetal surveillance techniques including foetal heart rate monitoring (cardiotocography, CTG), ultrasound evaluation of amniotic fluid (amniotic fluid index measurement) and foetoplacental blood flow (umbilical Doppler measurements), and formal biophysical profile assessment. Our midwifeled service is supported by our Maternal Foetal Medicine team, with our 'MFM of the day' consultant available for further evaluation and advice. Our Foetal Surveillance Unit also provides the foetal monitoring required for our external cephalic version service and the Pregnancy Day Assessment Centre (PADC).
  • The Perinatal Medicine Department delivers clinical care for high risk women. Our multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive counselling and pregnancy care, as well as obstetric imaging, fetal monitoring and prenatal procedures.

ABOUT YOU:


  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA.
  • Post Graduate Degree (or working towards) in hospital or health services, administration, management or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience.
  • Current Level 3 Practitioner as per the RANZCOG FSEP framework.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of high risk pregnancy.
  • Experience working within a maternal foetal medicine unit (desirable).
  • Credentialed to perform limited third trimester ultrasound (desirable).
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership.
  • Awareness of financial and budgetary process.
  • Proven leadership and change management experience.
  • Demonstrated clinical innovation with high level change management.
