Job Description:
The role of Data Steward is to provide guidance and support for stakeholders to improve their data literacy and advocate the adoption of data management best practises to align with TAL's broader Data Risk management Framework and Policy.
The role will also enforce data rules to ensure high level of data quality, integrity, availability, completeness, consistency, privacy and compliance by data owners.
The role will support the development of claims-specific data driven initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts, monitor ongoing results, define process areas for review, and conduct benchmarking activities to ensure best in class results for data management best practices.
The role will liaise and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels across the Claims Business, as well as other functional areas internally such as the Data & Analytics team, Portfolio Insights teams, Finance, Actuarial and the wider TAL teams to ensure continuous improvement and consistency is developed and maintained within the wider TAL Group.
For the Data Steward to succeed, they are expected to regularly communicate with, and influence, senior stakeholders within Claims, from Chief Claims Officer to General Managers, Heads of Departments and Team Managers, in order to drive positive commercial outcomes and continually refine the operating model.
Qualifications:
- Ability to drive initiatives focused on data enhancements that create a better overall customer experience.
- Life insurance or other financial industry knowledge.
- Claims data knowledge preferrable.
- Thorough knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity with database and data warehouse concepts.
- Highly advanced conceptual thinking with an ability to identify interdependencies among system elements that impact performance.
- Highly advanced communication skills with strong ability to convey, receive, and accurately interpret information.
- Advanced influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- Strong ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong ability to work in a changing environment.
- Extensive experience dealing directly with large scale data management.
- Proven analysis experience, with strong stakeholder engagement and influence
