    About Early Childhood Outcomes Division:

    The Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) Division is leading a once-in-a-generation reform program in early childhood education and care. Reform outcomes include increased accessibility to childcare places, reduced costs to parents, and universal preschool education for children.

  • The Partnerships Team designs and delivers new early childhood education initiatives by partnering with key stakeholders, including other government departments, local councils, philanthropic organisations, and the broader early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector.
  • The Program Design Team designs and delivers new initiatives to increase access to and affordability of early childhood education and care, value and grow the early childhood education and care sector, and invest in early childhood teachers and educators through the .
  • The System Stewardship Team guides the department's interventions to facilitate a sustainable and higher performing ECEC market. Our primary responsibility is delivering the System Stewardship Strategy, an overarching framework that comprises diverse research and strategy projects and also supports ECO teams to work differently.

    As a Senior Programs Officer or Senior Policy Officer within the System Stewardship Directorate, you will have the opportunity to support the management and coordination of a range of new early childhood education initiatives which contribute to organisational objectives and Government commitments.

    Some key responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to, the identification and development of program solutions and to inform program decision making.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for a range of projects.
  • Mentor and guide Policy Officers and Project Officers and support staff, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements, to successfully deliver policy priorities and initiatives and successfully deliver all key projects milestones.

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience.
  • A valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

  • Experience with program design, program management, or policy development.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build rapport with stakeholders and work collaboratively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver detailed reports, briefings, and presentations to a range of audiences, including executives.
  • Prior leadership mentoring skills and experience in the early childhood education and care sector would be highly regarded.
