Monash Health is seeking a Medical Workforce Strategy and Planning Manager - Monash Doctors Workforce

About the Role


Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Medical Services (Workforce), the Medical Workforce Strategy and Planning Manager is responsible for aligning Monash Health's strategic, service and business plans with the medical workforce, through the continuous review, design and execution of Monash Health's medical workforce strategy.

The manager is also responsible for monitoring and addressing risks associated with said medical workforce strategy.


About the Monash Doctors Workforce


Monash Health is the largest employer of medical staff in Victoria, employing approximately 3000 medical staff (1500 Junior Medical Staff, 1500 Senior Medical Staff) across all medical specialties.

These doctors work across multiple campuses, including 4 major hospitals (Monash Medical Centre Clayton, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Victorian Heart Hospital), and many smaller hospital and community health services.

Many of our Monash Doctors are world leaders in their field and are well respected by international peers.

They and the Clinical Units they lead rely on the Monash Doctors Workforce Unit to deliver exceptional medical employment and administration services so that Monash Health continues to attract and retain the best doctors in their field.


The Monash Doctors Workforce Unit is an innovative and high functioning team comprised of 22 dedicated staff members who are all equally committed to the goal of providing world class patient care by ensuring we provide the right doctors at the right place and at the right time.

The unit is also committed to providing a seamless medical employment and administration service to our medical staff so medical staff can focus on what they do best - care for our patients.


About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategy
  • Extensive knowledge of the components and issues of the modern medical workforce
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and customers
  • Demonstrated evidence of creative problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyse data to generate innovative ideas or solutions
  • Proven capacity to write accurate and coherent reports
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity
  • Capacity to lead and drive change
  • Capacity to deliver projects.

It is also highly desirable if you have:

  • Higher qualifications in business management and/or human resources
  • A track record of developing and executing workforce strategies
