About The Opportunity

We are excited to be recruiting to the
Safeguards Child and Adolescent Mental Health Response Team to deliver a NEW dedicated resource for children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress.


We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Consultant to undertake the role as Clinical Lead for our multifaceted and dynamic early intervention infant child and adolescent Specialist team.

They will specifically be the Clinical Lead for the SWSLHD Safeguards program (part of ICAMHS) and also support its significant internal and external interfaces.


The Clinical Lead will work closely with Team Leaders, Senior Management and other stakeholders across the district in supporting the implementation of specialist treatment for children and adolescents (0-17 years) experiencing acute mental distress.


As an expert practitioner you will have knowledge of systemic care coordination, experience mentoring a multidisciplinary team, provision of clinical supervision, training delivering seminars, presentations and education activities for other professionals / stakeholders within the mental health setting.


Your extensive knowledge and expertise in community mental health, along with your flexible, forward thinking positive attitude and experience in implementing health related projects are attributes sought after by our ever evolving rapid response team.

What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership.

The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes.

The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience in a relevant field of practice relevant to the specialty & approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
  • Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
