  • Base salary range: $106,775 $116,709 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team
UWA is making significant investments in the Information and Technology Services area to enable its strategic direction and goals.

Cybersecurity is one of these areas and is undergoing an uplift in capability and delivery of new services to align with the University's risk strategy.


About the opportunity


As the appointee you will, under broad direction, have a significant role in integrating cybersecurity best practices into the day-to-day operations of the University.

You will be responsible for coordinating cyber security and technology risk assurance activities and providing governance over risk remediation activities, audit findings and issues in support of UWA's overall IT risk management program.


You will work closely with other technology functions and projects to proactively seek opportunities for cybersecurity advice and provide risk assessments of proposed changes and initiatives.


You will own the delivery of a targeted and engaging cyber security awareness program across staff and students, aiming to influence positive behavioural change that reduces risk.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience in delivering cyber security training and awareness activities, IT risk management frameworks and audit processes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of common digital risk management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, COBIT and ones from NIST
  • Ability to identify and assesses the severity and potential impact of risks and communicate risk assessment findings to risk owners outside cybersecurity in a way that consistently drives objective, factbased decisions about risk
  • Relevant industry certifications, including CRISC, ISO27001 Lead implementer, CISSP, CISM or other security/control certifications
  • Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent collaborative skills and the ability to communicate risk concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels
  • Proven ability to communicate with substantial influence, establish positive relationships with peers and negotiate competing priorities
  • Excellent analytical skills, including ability to manage multiple projects across multiple domains under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives
  • Working knowledge of the higher education sector is desirable
