SC1 Demonstrated experience performing ground-keeping, maintenance and gardening activities in a school environment.

SC2 Demonstrated capacity to communicate and work effectively with members of the school community (administration, staff and teachers).

SC3 Demonstrated ability to maintain grounds, gardens and buildings as required within a school environment.


Role:


  • Remove balls from roof after completing a "Working at Heights" course.
  • Keep storm water drains clean.
  • Monitor water usage and repair leaking taps.
  • Replace/mend bent hinges ensuring all doors are lockable.
  • Fix all OHS issues or report to Assistant Principal.
  • Be an OHS team representative.
  • Put together furniture packs when required.
  • Mow lawns.
  • Maintain garden beds, e.g. remove weeds and selfsown plants, plant new plants, shrubs and trees as required.
  • Prune trees and shrubs.
  • Clear gutters.
  • Repair broken carpentry.
  • Repair broken toilet seats.
  • Remove graffiti.
  • Replace internal light globes.
  • Clean all air conditioners twice a year.
  • Any other minor maintenance duties that may occur on an ad hoc basis.
  • Maintain equipment in a secure and safe manner.

Skills

  • Some previous experience in a building trade.
  • Ability to work within the OHS guidelines.
  • Ability to develop positive, respectful relationships with staff, parents and students.
  • Ability to take pride in the quality of workmanship.
  • Be punctual and reliable.
  • Ability work alone without direct supervision.
  • Ability to follow directions and complete requests from School Leaders.

  • Current Victorian Driver Licence.
