About the role

  • We have a fixedterm opportunity for an Environment Specialist. The role involves undertaking environmental assessments to support the Aboriginal Community Water Services (ACWS) team. This role is focussed on technical review of internal and consultant deliverables, providing high quality technical environmental advice and support services which will include technical / operational, approvals, risk and strategy. Key to the role is internal and external stakeholder engagement across regions to support project objectives. Additionally, this role will assist Water Corporation in delivering outcomes by providing environmental advice and support to various business units.


This role will be based in our Leederville office and will be initially reporting to the Team Leader - Environmental Programs.

This role involves both office and field-based work so flexibility is required to meet the project needs


What the role will involve

  • Supporting the delivery of the ACWS Project
  • Assessing environmental data and technical review of consultant environmental and risk assessment reports in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements
  • Undertake and support environmental risk assessments for projects with varying levels of risk, including due consideration of environmental, stakeholder, social issues and, where appropriate, economic, corporate image and operability factors
  • Maintaining and establishing constructive internal and external working relationships within the Water Corporation, with contractors and external stakeholders including government agencies, community and interest groups facilitate effective environmental management outcomes
  • Project management and coordination of contractors
  • Ensuring health, safety, environmental and quality risks are identified and assessed for significance in all aspects of the projects, and that controls are implemented and monitored throughout the project which includes conducting site audits

Key skills and experience

  • You will be degree qualified in environmental science or a similar discipline, along with experience in environmental risk management and processes under environmental legislation and their management. Knowledge of relevant issues facing the water industry in Australia is desirable. Your ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders (government agencies), along with considerable knowledge of state / commonwealth legislation associated with environmental management in the water industry will ensure success in this role.
