About the role

A new and exciting opportunity to join our passionate Future Energy team, as the Product Development Manager, is now available.

Reporting to the General Manager, Portfolio Delivery. The focus for this role will be to Manage the design, development, deployment, and operation of new customer propositions.

Supporting the growth of community batteries is a key element of Origin's Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and transition towards a renewable focused energy market.

As a new element of our VPP, Origin is working to develop new capabilities, business models and customer propositions relating to community batteries, which are large energy storage assets located in public spaces with the purpose of creating value for customers, networks and energy providers.

The role involves:

End to end product ownership from discovery, development, launch, ongoing operation in market and iteration. This will span from earlystage minimum viable product (MVP) through to a complete offering as the opportunity scales.
Defining the product roadmap for the next 624 months.
Driving a customer centric approach to developing new propositions, designing products customers love, validation of problem/solution fit and productmarket fit.
Managing a small cross function team ensuring alignment to a defined roadmap and delivery as a group.
In consultation with our strategy, digital and technology teams, you will bring the product roadmap to life. Ensuring timely delivery of a MVP, followed by subsequent iterations based on customer experience and feedback as well as commercial viability.
Working with Customer Growth, you will drive the development of a gotomarket plan product launch and scaling.
Working with Operations, ensure the effective day to day management of support and processes aimed at creating great customer experience.
Working with the broader Future Energy team, you will liaise with and inform new relationships and engagements structures with networks, technology providers and other partners to enable the growth of this venture.
Accountability for ensuring commercial viability on our community battery proposition as we consider product growth, performance and pricing, planning and reporting, monitoring market trends and managing the delivery roadmap

About You

You will have deep product development and management experience, both digital and non-digital, with a passion for solving problems, and owning outcomes, where your ability to communicate and work with people are your key strengths.

You are an organised, self-starter, who can facilitate outcomes, whilst recognising the importance of reaching consensus amongst stakeholders in a professional, fact-based manner.

And have an appetite to challenge the status quo in a way that energises and engages others.

You will also be able to demonstrate.

Managed operational teams
Designed and implemented delivery and service models
Exceptional commercial skills and strategic track record
Ability to take a lean approach to solution design and development, with iteration as we scale

Desirable requirements

Industry experience in utilities, clean technology, telco or similar industries.
Deep experience in commercial, operations, technology or product roles.
