Engineering Manager - Decarbonisation

This position is responsible for the engineering management of the Wind Decarbonisation Generation Projects, from PFS through to feasibility, design and financial approval.

This role is responsible for the management and execution of the engineering design utilising a variety of tools for analyses and modelling to develop innovative solutions to project requirements and needs.

This includes but is not limited to, project schedule management, project budget management, overall project scope and execution and ensuring design activities, goals, and targets are completed on-time, on budget, and are successful.

Key emphasis is the ability to lead a fast-paced engineering design team to bring composite solutions from concept through to implementation.


Key responsibilities:


  • Lead the engineering management of the project through the prefeasibility, feasibility, design and approval
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring and reporting engineering activities
  • Formulating project parameters and assigning responsibilities to the most capable employees and monitoring the project engineering team
  • Engage and manage consultants to produce outcomes required to support development of the project
  • Perform and present gated design reviews at specific times in the design lifecycle of the project
  • Develop and coach engineering team members to help provide further growth opportunities
  • Creating frameworks to measure the project's metrics
  • Develop innovative solutions for cost effective and efficient project delivery
  • Maximise performance and culture across the team to provide a thriving environment

Qualifications and skills required:


  • Tertiary Engineering Qualification in relevant field
  • Postgraduate qualifications in project management would be highly desirable, or relevant equivalent hands on industry experience on similar projects
  • Experience in establishing and optimising major operations, ideally with experience in Energy, Water and Process Infrastructure
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team with proven leadership skills, which include managing, developing, planning, trouble shooting and motivating diverse teams to achieve the objectives of the project and to deliver it within budget, cost and quality with top HSE considerations
  • Experience in managing the delivery of complex engineering tasks, ideally with experience/exposure to renewable energy, civil and/or electrical disiplines
  • Experience in engaging and managing external consultants and contractors
  • Proven negotiation skills that ensure all stakeholders support and acceptance the core business goals, and project deliverables
  • An ability to quickly get across the details, to develop a thorough understanding on particular issues
  • Ability to problem solve and capacity to generate creative solutions utilising team or external resources to deal with project challenges and opportunities
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to quality outcomes
  • Ability to create and articulate the corporate vision influencing organisational values, individual and group goals and management systems
  • Working effectively with office and field based technical teams to accomplish project objectives
  • Capacity to delegate tasks and responsibilities to subordinates and monitor progress in a multidiscipline and cohesive team environment
  • A track record for consistently accomplishing tasks that engenders trust with the executive function
  • Quick learner who is adaptable and has capacity to manage dynamic and ambiguous environments
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in individual and group situations
