About the role:

The Victoria Police Fleet consists of approximately 3600 vehicles and is expected to increase over coming years.

The Fleet Quality Unit fits between new vehicle fit-ups and decommissions the same number on average each year.


The Team Leader of the Fleet Quality Unit will assist the Manager to ensure that the unit performs at a high standard and all procedures are completed in a timely manner while ensuring that the Quality Controls are of high standard.


The Team Leader will assist the Manager of the unit with numerous Victoria Police contracts and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fitting and Decommissioning Contract with Autonexus.


The role requires a customer centric, collaborative and innovative approach to working with a diverse range of stakeholders within Victoria Police and external stakeholders including Government.

Your duties will include:


  • Assist with providing technical advice and reports on policy and issues relevant to vehicle fit ups and decommissioning.
  • Assist with managing and monitor the services provided by the external contractor engaged to fit/remove/repair equipment in police vehicles.
  • Undertake research and investigations to improve the integration of equipment and systems in the vehicle.
  • Assist with managing a small team of staff in the Fleet Quality Unit and external contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, designing, enhancing and implementing vehicle equipment fitting solutions.
  • Welldeveloped relationship management, written and verbal communication skills.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A qualification as a Motor Mechanic or Auto Electrician would be highly desirable.
  • A commitment to the OID Strategy Goals of Customer Centric, Collaborative and Innovation.
  • Possess a current Victorian Driver's Licence and hold or qualify for a Victoria Police White Class driver authority within three months if successful.
  • Your usual place of work will be within the Operational Infrastructure Department
  • Transport Division, 20 Dawson Street, Brunswick, Victoria Police however you may be required to work at any other division within the department as required.
