About the position:MLC School Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned to the MLC School Learning and Teaching Framework, policies and practices of MLC School. This position works in collaboration with class teachers in our Junior School (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6) supporting the English language development and academic progress of students who have a language background other than English.

The successful applicate will have experience teaching primary EAL/D students.


Selection Criteria:

You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:

  • coordinate, manage and maintain processes for the ongoing identification and assessment of EAL/D students whilst monitoring student progress.
- collaborate with and empower class teachers to provide quality in-class support and enhance teaching strategies to address English language acquisition for target students.
- collaborate on, plan, implement and evaluate differentiated learning programs that develop EAL/D students' cognitive academic language proficiency.
- incorporate the appropriate use of ICT and related technologies into your teaching practice to enhance student learning in the classroom.
- undertake ongoing professional learning, keeping abreast of research and pedagogical approaches to best support EAL/D students.
- understand the impact of wellbeing on student learning and maintain a high level of student care at all times.
- deliver service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging and building positive relationships with members of our parent community.
- contribute to the 'whole girl' learning experience through your contribution to co-curricular programs and school community events.
- a love of learning and teaching, with a sense of humor.


Desirable

  • Post graduate qualifications in TESOL
  • Experience as an EAL/D teacher in primary education
