An opportunity has arisen to join our established Maleny Manor team for an experienced Events Manager.Maleny Manor is one of Australia's most renowned wedding and events venues, hosting 150+ events a year. Being in the industry for over 30 years, Maleny Manor offers personalised service with our own trained, professional team.
Located in Maleny within the Sunshine Coast hinterland, the venue is open 7 days of the week for events only with onsite accommodation and exclusive use of the 30-acre property.
Reporting to the General Manager we are looking for a customer service focused team player with food and beverage experience and a passion for weddings and events.
Key responsibilities include:
Operation & on the day coordination
- Manage the smooth running of weddings and events, including guest arrival, team briefing, canape & drink service, cocktail bar service, table service and working alongside Head Chef for service, liaise with MC on the night for speeches, cake cutting, and other event specific timings
- Opening and closing of the bar and event spaces
- Delegate duties to team members for each shift ensuring all aspects of the event are covered
- Problem solving on the night for any changes that occur
- Maintaining an exceptionally high level of service and quality of product
- Maintain responsible service of alcohol, adhering to liquor license requirement of the venue, liaise and manage security for each event
- Work with the Events Supervisor to continually train and nurture casual food and beverage team
- Conduct quarterly team training sessions on RSA, service standards, quality control
- Be the direct report for casual food & beverage team as well as Events Supervisor
- Administrative duties including rostering, timesheets, ordering and stocktake
- Assist the team with sales process from initial enquiry, site inspections, proposals, contracting and invoicing
- Striving to meet both individual and team targets, with reporting monthly, quarterly and yearly to the General Manager
- Work with the team to develop sales strategies, marketing concepts and pricing structures
- Assist the General Manager with the marketing strategies, social media campaigns, print marketing and other marketing opportunities
- Ensuring guest expectations are exceeded with high level of service
- Maintaining an exceptionally high level of service and quality of product
About you:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in front of house hospitality role, preferably within weddings and events
- Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory or management role
- Highly organised, with exceptional time management skills
- High level attention to detail, and care for every aspect of the role
- Excellent communication and customer service
- Current RSA required, with RMLV advantageous or willing to attain
- Driver's license and own reliable transport required
- Proficient in office administration software, including Microsoft suite and Events PMS
- Knowledge and understanding of beverage costings, budgets and wage costings
- Tertiary qualification in events, hospitality or business management preferable
With the nature of our industry, weekend work is a requirement of the role, with a usual roster of Tuesday - Saturday or Wednesday - Sunday with flexibility required with both day and night shifts as needed to meet the business needs.
Please note, Maleny Manor closes for a 2 week closure over Christmas and New Years each year to allow our team to enjoy the festive season off.
