Salary:

About Us
SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator.

Our focus is to reduce work related fatalities, serious injuries, and illnesses by securing compliance with work health and safety and associated legislation in NSW.

Two Compliance Manager roles have become available in the WHS Metro operational team.

These roles will each manage a team of Inspectors who undertake first responses to serious incidents and fatalities in the Sydney Metropolitan area.

In addition, inspectors in these teams respond to complaints, issue regulatory notices and conduct proactive compliance operations targeting high risk sectors and businesses across the area.


About You
Do you enjoy managing a team of multi-disciplinary regulatory staff to achieve positive compliance outcomes?

Are you interested in utilising data to divert compliance resources across Sydney to ensure proactive compliance activities assist in preventing workplace fatalities and serious injuries?

  • Bring experience in leading a small team of regulatory inspectors or compliance officers within a regulatory environment
  • Be someone with a passion for Workplace Safety and with an appreciation of riskbased compliance and contemporary regulatory frameworks
  • Have prior experience in delivering compliance programs, guiding staff on appropriate enforcement activities, and establishing relationships with stakeholder and community groups

To be successful, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading regulatory staff within government compliance/enforcement areas
  • Outstanding people leadership and communication skills with the ability to provide strategic direction to a team within a dynamic and changing regulatory operating environment, and drive a highperformance culture
  • A strong commitment to, and be an advocate for, leading the strategic and operational direction of the business to align with organisational objectives
  • The ability to building relationships with stakeholders and industry groups and collaborate with aligned agencies
  • High level strategic thinking and problemsolving skills with accountability to identify and manage emerging business issues and recommend appropriate solutions

Essential requirements

  • Hold a NSW 'C' class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment
  • Ability to travel, work remotely and out of usual business hours
  • Satisfactory criminal record check
  • Satisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role
