As the Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems Branch (EWIS) Land Systems Program Office (SPO) Procurement and Contract Management Officer you will be exposed to a wide range of commercial activities.

The Procurement and Contract Management Officer will be accountable to the SPO Business Manager and have responsibility for the delivery of commercial, procurement and contract management outcomes for the SPO.


This includes tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract development, day to day management of contracts under the Defence Support Services Panel (DSS) and the Major Service Provider (MSP) arrangements and support development of commercial acumen for SPO.

The Procurement and Contract Management Officer will be required to work both independently and as part of a team.

Additionally, this role will include a considerable level of engagement with internal and external stakeholders including other business areas within Defence, Service Providers, and Industry Partners.


This position currently attracts a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP), which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace.

BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).


About our Team

EWIS sits within Joint Systems Division (JSD) and acquires, sustains and integrates Intelligence and Electronic Warfare capabilities into a wide variety of air, land and sea based platforms and systems.


  • Experience in undertaking complex Procurement and Contract Management activities; including tendering, evaluation, contract negotiation, identifying and addressing commercial risk and drafting contract documents in compliance with policy.
  • The ability to provide accurate and timely procurement and contract management guidance and advice to the SPO.
  • The capacity to think strategically and develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of procurement and contract management outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
  • High level organisational skills, selfdrive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work collaboratively with the Commonwealth and other service providers contracted to the Commonwealth.
  • The Procurement and Contract Management Officer will be required to consider and incorporate (where appropriate) contributions and feedback provided by the Commonwealth and its contracted service providers in the development of deliverables.
