About the Role


The Risk Advisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting the risk management function and reporting for various DV projects and in particular across the Commonwealth Games projects portfolio.

The role is responsible for the various aspects of risk management of program and project risks, including assessing the effectiveness of current controls and the mitigation strategies, environmental monitoring and working with multiple stakeholder groups on reviews.

The role is also responsible for the facilitation of workshops with internal project teams and external stakeholders as well as project risk reporting.


This role will primarily report to the Director Risk & HSE and be part of the Commonwealth Games PMO, the Risk Advisor is required to develop and maintain close working relationships and work collaboratively with both stakeholders and consultants on the resolution of complex and sensitive issues.


About You

  • Assisting the Director Risk & HSE in delivering the requirements of the DV Risk Management framework
  • Assisting Commonwealth Games PMO in delivering the requirements of the Commonwealth Games Risk Management Plan
  • Developing, optimizing, maintaining and being responsible for providing ongoing project risk support and advice to multiple projects at various stages of delivery
  • Facilitation and leading risk assessment and workshop processes
  • Identifying, measuring, managing, reporting and escalating program and project risks
  • Ensuring project risk information is uptodate and accurate in the Project Management System
  • Working closely with Project Directors and project teams in the ongoing monitoring and management of risks
  • Conducting risk control and effectiveness assessments
  • Coach and develop project team capability in project risk management
  • Support and contribute to various risk management and risk culture programs
  • Assist with incident response, emergency management exercises and critical business interruption events
  • Regular and accurate reporting of the risk profile and status to the immediate team, senior management, stakeholders (including the Project Steering Committee) and broader Government as required.
Key Skills and Experience

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in construction management, risk management, engineering, project management or related field is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management with proven skills in delivering outcomes within specific timeframes
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary project team on large multimillion dollar projects
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, share knowledge and uplift capability across team
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and considered trusted advisor
  • Experience in facilitating risk workshops and competent in risk assessment methodologies
  • Experience in the support and delivery of risk management of projects across a program of works with functional and physical interdependencies
  • Strong strategic, analytical and problemsolving ability
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to develop comprehensive reports and briefs
