In the role of Principal Advisor to the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) you will:

Support the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) by providing timely and informed advice on major policies and key strategic issues, organisational accountabilities and interagency activities.
Manage the operation of the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) office, ensuring the efficient flow of issues and correspondence, establishing appropriate priorities and successful delivery of all outcomes.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including members of the Leadership Team and the broader leadership of the branch and division.
Ensure the timely provision of information to Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology Branch on the department's operations, strategies and policies and manage and coordinate specific tasks and projects as allocated including Workplace Health & Safety and HR branch management.

Accountabilities include:

Provide high level leadership in assisting the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) in the direction and management of Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology Branch and take immediate action on matters that do not require the General Manager's close involvement.
Act as a link and support the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) by developing response in key areas such as Ministerial and Director-General correspondence and briefing material.
Represent the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) including exercising discretion with sensitive issues and make judgement and decisions on behalf of the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology).
Assist the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology), as the Deputy Director-General's agent, in handling sensitive issues and providing up to date briefings to the Minister relating to Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology Branch.
Monitor Government decision and initiate appropriate action as necessary on matters relevant to Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology Branch.
Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to research, analyse, make recommendations and prepare responses for the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology), including ministerials, briefing papers, submissions and reports, on critical and sensitive matters, often in extremely short timeframes.
Research, analyse, make recommendations, prepare responses/presentations on issues and brief the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) or their representative in preparation for attendance at internal and external meetings, conferences and workshops.
Review branch responses and briefing notes to executive correspondence to ensure consistency with departmental policy and standards where the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) is the endorsing officer.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders (including those internal and external to the organisation).
Assist the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) in sourcing and providing advice direct to the Deputy Director-General and office of the Minister.
Assist the leadership team in the daytoday management of the Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology Branch including the delivery of strategic projects and operational planning.
Assist the General Manager (Passenger Transport Strategy and Technology) to manage and deliver on Workplace Health & Safety and HR obligations.
