Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world and we operate the world's largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia - so you are joining a unique team As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas, electric vehicles, and wind turbines.


Lynas is embarking on an expansion in Western Australia, and we have an opportunity for a driven Contracts Specialist wanting to join the team.

This is a fixed term 12 Month contract, based in our Perth Office.


As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team, you will:

  • Provide Procurement and Contract support to the Company Project and Operation teams.
  • Responsible for all assigned activities related to major works and thirdparty contract services
  • Develop and issue complex tender packages, administer tender process and receive tenders and undertake the review of tender submissions and negotiate any exceptions to Terms and Conditions.
  • Construct negotiation matrices to understand vendor motivations
  • Prepare recommendations for award and Contracts
  • Administration of postaward contractual obligations and deliverables including, assessing, reviewing, and advising on contractor claims such as, EOTs, progress claims and payment requests
  • Analysis of Contractor claims and variations.
  • Working across contracts including but not limited to service & construction contracts which can include site surveying, camp management, and power distribution works
  • Drafting & preparation of contractual documents & contract correspondence.
  • Ensuring commercial requirements of the contract are satisfied including reporting, forecasting, variations, extensions of time, notice of delays etc.
  • Responsible for endtoend contracts management from tendering, evaluation, contract negotiation, through to award and contracts management
  • Managing and liaising with legal department regarding all contracts.
  • Manage contractor and internal stakeholder relationships and monitor contract performance.
  • Develop, implement, and manage quantity surveying/monitoring/quality assurance function.
  • Manage and update the contract management system and ensure commercial information remains accurate and confidential
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's contract and procurement processes and procedures

What you will bring to the team:

  • Extensive contract management experience preferably in mining/construction/Civil industry
  • Experience in handling major construction contracts
  • Commercially savvy and able to optimise commercial value and drive improvements across the value chain.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problemsolving skills with a solid understanding of the principles of contracts law, business ethics and the contractual/commercial principles adopted within the industry.
  • Knowledge of using software packages such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Words are essential
  • Exposure with creating, implementing and monitoring procurement policies and procedures
  • Demonstrable commitment to HSE requirements in project environments
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a similar position
  • Tertiary qualification in Quantity Survey, Law, Engineering, Construction Management or similar is desirable, but not essential
  • Previous Contracts Administration or Management experience within the construction, engineering, resources industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Contracts law
  • Experience in developing, procuring, executing, and administering highvalue, complex packages.
  • Extensive experience in claims management and mitigation.
