About the role

The Dean is the Director of the School, a Professor and Co-Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at The University of Melbourne and a member of the MBS Board.


The Dean's key priorities will include:

Vision and strategy


Provide bold vision and leadership to strengthen and grow programs to further advance the School's strong reputation for preparing the next generation of business leaders.

Continue to advance its standing as a highly ranked premium business school in the region and the world.

Revenue growth and financial sustainability
Maximise current and drive new revenue streams to ensure a strong financial position.

Increase the size of the MBA class, grow Executive Education, successfully advance the new Online MBA program, and identify and deliver new revenue-generating programs.

Engagement and culture


Build rapport with the MBS community, promoting a people-first culture of transparency and inclusion in which stakeholders have an opportunity to provide input into decision-making processes.

Provide the inspiration and leadership that builds a culture to enable MBS to fully capitalise on the talent, energy and commitment of the faculty, professional staff and student body to achieve its strategic outcomes.

Relationship with the University and business community
Continue deepening relationships with the University of Melbourne, while ensuring the correct balance between integration and independence. Grow credibility and closer connections with the business community - maintaining relevance and academic rigour. Personally engage and extend relationships with national and international business communities in the development of opportunities for the School.

Digital and technological transformation


Expedite change readiness and bring stakeholder groups - students, alumni, faculty, the University and corporate partners - on the transformational journey toward the new MBS digital platform.

Lead the transformation and grow the online MBA and education programs across multiple geographies and markets.
