The role


The Manager Sustainability and Strategy will provide strategic direction in relation to land acquisition; use and development; master planning; environmental sustainability; and the sequencing of infrastructure, facilities, and inventory.

Driven by both quantitative and qualitative data, the role will engage closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that GMCT's land and capital program are financially and environmentally sustainable.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a strategic planning framework to evaluate, project, prioritise, and monitor GMCT's land, infrastructure, facilities, inventory, and environmental sustainability requirements.
  • Developing, maintaining, and facilitating enterprise and portfolio strategies, action plans, and targets as part of the overarching strategic planning framework.
  • Coordinating the implementation of GMCT's Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan across the organisation.
  • Managing the implementation of strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling, building and facility design, and general education on sustainability.
  • Establishing, monitoring, and communicating key performance metrics to evaluate enterprise and portfolio progress against strategic objectives.
  • Evaluating the efficacy of sustainability programs and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Facilitating the development and continuous improvement of governance arrangements, systems, processes, programs, and projects that support GMCT's strategic priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and internal OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders to develop GMCT's knowledge, capacity, and reputation with respect to land, strategic planning, and sustainability.

About you
You will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong strategic, leadership and change management ability. You will bring strong skills in communicating with impact amongst internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and success in project management, sustainability or ESG with relevant tertiary qualifications and/or knowledge and experience.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Decision making experience, with proven ability to work independently and to provide advice on a broad range of issues.
  • Demonstrated skills in analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills for the purposes of report and Business Case writing, design briefs and presentations to both internal and external audiences.
