Under a new customer model, and to support their growth we're excited to partner with McMahon Services to appoint 2 key positions on their Executive Management Committee.


The Opportunity


The objectives of the
EGM - Asset Operation & Sustainment role are to (1) provide excellent service delivery to the wider McMahon Service Companies, whilst (2) ensuring good performance and an appropriate return on shareholder capital for each asset class.


In order to achieve this, you will oversee and manage the performance of several Business Units responsible for Plant and Equipment, Operational Yards and Transport Assets.

The Business Units (BU's) you will be responsible for and manage are:

  • The Workshop Business Unit
  • The Recycling Hub Business Unit
  • The Transport Business Unit
  • The BADU Island Quarry
  • The Marine Assets
This is an Executive role and therefore a member of the McMahon Services Executive Committee.

You will be required to attend the Monthly executive committee meetings, prepare an annual strategy paper, reforecasting monthly on the financial outlook for these Business Units, as well as reporting regularly on their strategic progress around service delivery and performance.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing, Business Development and Tendering_
  • Assist the Managers with their strategy around the marketing of the BUs both internally as well as externally
  • Oversee the monthly Business Development of the BUs for their external customers and also the promotion of the services internally to the McMahon Services Companies
  • Project Delivery_
  • Oversee the operational delivery by each Manager of their BU and monitor efficiency and performance of the BU labour and plant
  • Design strategies and monitor outcomes with each BU for increased efficiency and reduction in costs in project delivery and task execution
  • Plant and Transport Logistics_
  • Implement a clear resource tracking solution around plant and resource management within each BU
  • Ensure the BUs are working closely with the rest of the McMahon Services Companies staff in order to provide certainty in delivery for our customers
  • Financial Management_
  • Annual Budget Preparation for BU's to be presented to the Executive Committee and then used for comparatives throughout the year
  • Regular Asset Planning and Management around the Return on Assets
  • Programming and Scheduling_
  • Oversee the support that your BUs would give the wider McMahon Services Companies BUs around asset needs and timings of purchases/servicing/use of assets
  • People Leadership and HR_
  • Assist your BUs with staff retention strategies and staff performance management
  • Adequately resource the BUs to drive good service delivery but maintaining cost controls and keeping overheads as low as possible
  • Commercial, Procurement and Contract Management_
  • Assist Managers of Workshop and Transport with Procurement and Investment Decisions around New Plant
  • Work with Legal around the terms and conditions and warranties for capital purchases
  • Risk, WHSEQ_
  • Ensure the Manager Transport and Workshop Manager are across compliance requirements and driving best practise in this area
  • Work with WHSEQ to ensure Risk is managed well for each type of Asset class and operations within your BUs

About you

  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Highly desirable
  • Degree in Business/Finance or similar
  • Essential
  • Process orientated, strong leadership, organisation, communication and influencing skills
  • Good management experience in leading high performing teams and achieving demonstrable outcomes
