    Job Description

    The Financial Controller will take on the responsibility of leading, driving, and enhancing the finance division for Thynne + Macartney. This position involves promoting ethical and responsible decision-making within a framework of corporate governance practices. The role is a key part of the executive team and includes the duties of the company secretary.

    • Managing financial relationships with lenders alongside the General Manager and ensuring compliance with financial covenants.
    • Handling the relationship with external auditors and the audit program.
    • Preparing annual financial statements.
    • Developing the firm's annual budget.
    • Identifying and implementing process and procedural enhancements for improved efficiency.
    • Company secretarial duties as part of the executive team.
    • Providing end-of-month board reporting.
    • Overseeing the preparation of annual income tax returns by external accountants.
    • Collaborating with external accountants on fringe benefits tax returns.
    • Responsible for creating all policies and procedures related to Finance/Trust Account regulations.
    • Working with external accountants to address and prepare stamp duty requirements resulting from changes in partnership and unit trust equity.
    • Compiling monthly Finance Summary Reports for the Equity Partners Board.
    • Other assigned tasks.

    The Successful Applicant

    The ideal candidate will be a savvy and skilled finance leader with a focus on process improvement. You should have extensive experience in partnering with the business in a genuine commercial manner, demonstrating a knack for resolving business challenges and identifying value-adding opportunities. Possessing a well-rounded skill set, including natural strategic capabilities and ease in managing multiple stakeholders, is essential.

    You should have a history of leading change and transformation initiatives, showcasing exceptional skills in stakeholder and relationship management, with strong communication abilities. Innately ambitious, you seek an environment that fosters your long-term growth and career advancement.

    Candidates must be CA/CPA qualified, with a proven track record of driving change, delivering enhanced value in a dynamic business setting, and leading a motivated team to achieve quality results. While not mandatory, experience in a professional services background is highly beneficial.
