As Planning Officer, you will provide town planning services and advice for different aspects of the development of a large property portfolio for the implementation of the Queensland Housing Strategy.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Assessment of public housing proposals in accordance with the Planning Act (2016), the Planning Regulation and departmental policies.
  • Stakeholder engagement and consultation on projects and programs.
  • Assist in the assessment of the need for social and affordable housing within precincts, cities and regions and partner with internal and external stakeholders such as housing service centres, local governments and other state agencies as well as housing providers to identify local delivery opportunities.
  • Assess the impacts on the department's Social Housing property portfolio arising from proposals in local government planning schemes and other planning documents, identify development opportunities and assist with portfolio development strategy.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation, background research and presentation to local governments seeking changes to planning schemes and other planning documents (particularly focusing on zoning and development codes) in order to enhance the redevelopment potential of appropriate parts of the department's Social Housing property portfolio.
  • Undertake town planning analysis and research to assess the development potential of a site based on planning scheme and site conditions.
  • Support the preparation of plans and guidelines that set out the Housing Partnerships Office property portfolio redevelopment and investment requirements.
  • Provide expert advice to the Principal Planning Officer and other stakeholders on a range of complex town planning matters in relation to the department's Social Housing property portfolio.
  • Engage with state agencies, local governments and other areas of the department to promote the department's portfolio interests.
  • Prepare reports, briefs and ministerial correspondence in relation to town planning matters as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of plans and programs.
  • Supporting and helping maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of daytoday operations.
