Overview:
TGRC is proud to be partnering with a leading player in the renewable energy sector, dedicated to developing and constructing a growing portfolio of renewable and storage assets.
With a strong focus on green energy and sustainability, our client are seeking a talented Head of Development to lead their ambitious project pipeline from greenfield to construction.
Role description:
As the Head of Development, you will be responsible for spearheading the development of our renewable energy projects.
Reporting directly to the Country Manager, you will play a pivotal role in devising and implementing project development strategies that align with our business objectives.
This position requires a combination of strategic thinking, project management expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and a deep understanding of the renewable energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Development Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine project strategies, goals, plans, and processes to achieve our ambitions.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure compliance with legal requirements and optimize project design.
- Manage planning and environmental processes for approvals.
- Oversee project development, including risk mitigation, budget management, and resource allocation.
- Cultivate stakeholder relationships and engage with local community, First Nations groups, and government authorities.
- Work closely with Engineering for grid connection approvals.
- Supervise and mentor project developers for team success.
Support Site Prospecting:
- Collaborate with Engineering to identify potential project opportunities.
- Coordinate land agreements with landlords and stakeholders.
Support Construction and Commercial Departments:
- Identify investment opportunities and conduct due diligence.
- Support commercial departments with project reporting and analysis.
- Assist Construction and Asset Management teams with land and permit management.
Coordinate Project Approvals and Manage Internal Stakeholders:
- Coordinate internal investment approvals.
- Prepare project updates and materials for board meetings and shareholder engagements.
Requirements:
- Tertiary education in a relevant field, such as engineering, environmental science, or business.
- Proven track record of at least 8 years in power or renewable energy project development, including site identification, land lease negotiation, grid connection acquisition, and planning and environmental approvals.
- Prior experience in selecting and collaborating with owner's engineers, legal advisors, and technical consultants would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while effectively executing operational tasks.
- Exceptional relationship management skills, especially in a flexible work environment.
