About the role

As part of our Water Supply and Production team this role will see you support sites across our Sydney Water network where you will be the technical lead/specialist for hydraulics operations across bulk water supply systems.

This role ensures that water quantity and quality product requirements meet safety and efficiency creating a better life with world class water services for our customers and community.

The responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:

Technical lead for hydraulics, transfer capacities and hydraulics modelling in bulk water supply operations
Technical lead for major work plan on bulk water supply operations and Water Hubs
Provide technical lead in ensuring operating units of the hydraulic system (raw water pumps, valves, mains etc) are maintained to achieve their design capability at a specified standard of reliability and availability.
Provide technical input in operational planning and longterm strategy development for water supply
Responsible for development and implementation of Operating Manuals for Raw Water Pumps and Mains for bulk water supply and Water Hub teams
Optimise bulk water supply in an integrated manner with other teams to meet all commercial, regulatory and customer requirements in a costefficient manner
Ensure risk assessments and contingency plans are developed and change management implemented to manage bulk water supply risks in line with Sydney Water's risk management framework
Travel across various Sydney Water location, with flexibility in days and hours to meet business needs, including incident response outside of business hours.

About you

Successful applicants will have an extensive background working in hydraulics across modelling and operations demonstrating your technical and resolution-based knowledge.

You will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in water operations and water quality to effectively produce outcomes for Sydney Water.

To be considered for this position, it is essential applicants demonstrate:

Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline and/or proven experience in modelling and hydraulic operations
Relevant valid driver's licence required
Demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge in modelling and hydraulics
Demonstrated experience in water quality management
Demonstrated experience in communication and relationship management skills
Demonstrated experience in contract and stakeholder management
