About the Role:

The Scientific Officer works closely with a team of professionals to delivery priority environmental science projects under limited supervision, and contributes to the provision of ecological advice and services to inform environmental decision-making in South Australia.

Key outcomes from the role include:

Technical and scientific data and information is collected, analysed, evaluated and reported in a transparent and rigorous manner
Scientific and technical reports on the status of key natural resources are delivered on time, and developed under limited guidance and advice from senior officers
Collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders and business groups are developed and maintained.
Environmental Science and Research Partnerships Unit projects (particularly those related to Freshwater, River Murray and Coorong science) receive sound and timely advice, information and outputs.

Contract:

Contract for up to end of June 2024

Essential Qualifications:

A tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resource management or equivalent is essential

Special Conditions:

May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties
A current driver's licence is essential, along with a willingness to undertake four wheel drive training
May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.

Remuneration:

PO2 $85,665 min - $94,801 max p.a.
