Traffic Officers are an integral part of Council's overall traffic and transport strategy and responsible for delivering outstanding customer service to the community.


About the Role

Join the traffic enforcement team responsible for encouraging parking turnover in the City of Darebin through education and the processing of parking infringement notices for breaches of the Road Rules.

Ensure the safety of children by patrolling around schools.


Duties

  • Issue parking infringement notices in accordance with legislation.
  • Operate handheld devices and other equipment/technology.
  • Patrol school crossings to ensure the safety of children.
  • Attend Court to give evidence in prosecutions as required.
  • Maintain an emphasis on excellent customer service by responding promptly and courteously to all enquiries received.

Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of Pinforce and Pinforce manager software.
  • Be familiar with Council parking provisions, and Council policy concerning matters, which generally fall within the jurisdiction of the Traffic Services Department.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to gain the knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989, Road Safety Act 1986, Road Safety Road Rules 2017 and other relevant Acts and regulations.
  • Experience in justice administration, public administration, law enforcement, customer service or other related fields (desirable).
