    The Opportunity
  • Provide expert evidencebased advice about the municipality's current and future community needs and priorities to help work areas achieve the MV2040 Strategy vision of a 'healthy city'.
    Responsibilities
  • Provide support on projects requiring geospatial analysis, through providing information and advice on research and geospatial data.
  • Lead / Assist the design, development and maintenance of a research portal (social, demographic and spatial data hub).
  • Assist in developing a system to ensure all demographic and socioeconomic data is easily accessible across Council.
  • Undertake geospatial analysis for a range of land use and social issues and topics to help inform evidencebased decisionmaking, including evaluation and measurement of policy, strategy and service outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships with data owners, and work with others, including the GIS team, to monitor, evaluate and review geospatial data (or data that could be converted into geospatial data) and to influence good practices with regard to data management.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review spatial and social data and information to influence evidencebased decision making, including providing timely and accurate geospatial analysis advice and reports to senior management, and internal and external stakeholders.

Skills & Experience- Technical expertise and experience

  • Understanding of the processes and methodologies that inform sound research
  • Interpersonal skills that include the ability to influence and work collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams and to relay information about research and data in simple terms.

  • Experience in project management and complex problem solving using spatial data and analytics, including the ability to provide solutions and develop effective outcomes in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of professional disciplines. This includes the ability to translate complex issues and data into visual and coherent messages, and adapt communication style to identified need and/or purpose.
