This is an
ongoing, part time (~
0.70 FTE) role across our three campuses (in Brighton and Sandringham), commencing at the beginning of
Term 2, 2024.


The Lead - Music Curriculum & Choral will work collaboratively with the Director of Performing Arts and Head of Music, for the development of the School's Music Program.


Key Responsibilities:


Policy and Planning:

  • Oversee the classroom curriculum and choral programs on all campuses.
  • Liaise with Heads of Junior Schools regarding the classroom music program.
  • Make significant contributions to curriculum and choral policy and planning.
  • Maintain the content of the curriculum of the department through regular review and evaluation.
  • Set short and longterm academic goals for Music in collaboration with the Director of Performing Arts.
Curriculum Development & Implementation (in collaboration with the Director of Performing Arts):

  • Provide documentation of the detailed courses in Music for staff.
  • Monitor the implementation of the curriculum on all campuses.
  • Coordinate the planning of extension activities and programs for students with individual needs.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and programs.

Staff Management:

  • Foster a climate of cooperation and trust among staff.
  • Encourage the professional development of staff and involve staff in curriculum planning and other activities.
  • Appraise and mentor faculty members according to school guidelines.
  • Ensure faculty members set and review goals annually.

Other Duties:

  • Organize musical input for various school events and performances.
  • Liaise with external agencies for choral group performances.
  • Coordinate tours, camps, and other musical activities.
  • Identify opportunities for diverse choral performances and musical ensembles.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Current VIT.
  • Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or willing to undertake)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated expertise in music.
